I enjoyed Playing Pretend. Juliana Haygert has written an emotional story of finding love against the odds.
Charlotte is tired of being something she isn’t. Forced to be the good girl, the debutante, the pre-law student, Charlotte is the penultimate governor’s daughter, but she isn’t happy. On a Spring Break trip, she gets the opportunity to be herself without any outside interference. She meets Mason, who is up for a fling. Their Spring Break fling ends up being deeper feelings, but they go their separate ways. Sometime in the future, Mason and Charlotte run into each other again in DC, except she is dating someone else, someone her mother approves of. Can these two fight for each other against the odds?
I love this kind of romance, the two mains come from opposite lives but are perfect for each other. The “feels” are there in spades. Mason and Charlotte were great characters. Haygert’s writing flows so well, one minute you’ve started the book and the next it’s nearly done.
If you enjoy a sweet, opposites attract, against all odds romance, than this one is for you!
